20 things to achieve in 2020
We’re now three days into the new year and everyone is busy sticking to their resolutions and making positive changes to their routine (or so we hope!).
But for those who may set some unrealistic goals, the chance of dropping off is a little larger. This is why we love the idea of 20 goals for 2020! It enables you to set goals throughout the year, instead of trying to start everything from the get-go.
We know what you’re thinking, “I don’t even have 20 goals I want to achieve”.
20 goals for 2020 is the perfect way to implement new activities and behaviours into your life and aid in turning the uncomfortable, comfortable!
When setting up your 20 goals/tasks, check out our tips below on strategically compiling your list.
Wouldn’t it be nice as a fitness professional to visit 20 different countries in 2020?
Realistically, with us being so busy, that’s unlikely but don’t let that deter you!
What you can do, however, is engage in activities that will help you reach your goal sooner, such as a saving money challenge.
Make it fun!
At some point, we have all made a resolution that we simply haven’t stuck to. We’re human, that’s normal!
When selecting your goals, make them fun/meaningful. Not only will this help you stick to them, but it’ll also keep you from wanting to pack it in early, you’re also more likely to enjoy working towards it.
Take the money-saving challenge for example, at the end of the saving period, you know you’ll have ‘$xxxx’ saved to put towards your reward of choice.
Break down your goals/tasks into three different categories based on how long they will take to complete;
- Short-term: Completable within 1 week.
Short tasks such as weekend trips with the family, home improvements or even meals out with friends who you don’t get to see just as much as you wish.
We definitely recommend bulking out your 20 for 2020 with these as it gives you many little things to look forward to as the year progresses.
- Mid-term: Can take anywhere from 1 week to 1 month.
Something we as trainers may offer to our own clients is 28-30 day challenges. These are great around seasonal periods such as the new year and summer to kick start a fitness journey!
Not to mention education-based tasks such as online courses or even trialling out new training/diet methods on yourself to further your understanding.
- Long-term: Much larger tasks that may take up the entire year.
Also classed as your ‘Main’ goal. Whether that be to run a marathon, compete in a fitness competition, grow your business to going online full time or even to double your current client-base.
Try limiting your large, more demanding tasks to 1 or 2 to start with and prevent the possibility of burning out.
